George W. Hart, Jr., 83, of Carnesville, Ga., passed away peacefully at his home, Wednesday, Dec. 1, 2010. He was born Jan. 30, 1927, in the Ashland Community of Franklin County. He was the son of the late George W. and Mildred Louise Williams Hart, Sr., and was the brother of the late Betty Jo McWilliams. He served in the U. S. Navy during World War II. He was a supervisor with the Lakewood General Motors plant, from 1948, until retirement in 1985. He served as mayor of Stockbridge for 10 years. He moved back to Franklin County and was co-owner of the Young At Heart personal care home in Carnesville, Ga. He was a member of the Cross Roads Baptist Church of Carnesville. Survivors include his wife, Donna Nesmith Hart; four children, Barry and Katherine Hart, of Social Circle.; Laura and Doug Richardson, of McDonough, Lilja and Mike Kitchens, of Jackson, and Leandra and Tom Goleniak, of Canton, Minn.; two brothers and sister-in-laws, William O. and Evelyn Hart, and Michael and Betty Hart, both of Carnesville; four sisters and brother-in-laws, Peggy and William Cothran, of Carnesville, Arline and Tom Gilley, of Tyler, Tex., Ruth and Ron Reed, of Villa Park, Calif., and Nancy Hart, of Commerce, Ga.; and 12 grandchildren. Services were Friday at 3 p.m., at the B. D. Ginn Memorial Chapel of Ginn Funeral Home, with the the Rev. Bobby Jones and the Rev. Scott Reece officiating. Internment was in the Franklin Memorial Gardens. The body was at the Ginn Funeral Home. The family received friends from 1p.m., to 3 p.m., Friday, at the funeral home.
