So, have you ever seen a lamp growing out of a typewriter?

How about one growing out of an old roller skate? A lunch pail? A vintage 1950's rug cleaner?

Believe it, or not, they do exist, and they are available for purchase at Arts Clayton's Mistletoe Market.

The market, a long-standing tradition for the arts group, re-opened this week at the Arts Clayton Gallery, which is located at 136 South Main Street, in Jonesboro. Gallery officials said more than 30 Arts Clayton exhibitors provided hundreds of items, to be sold at the market, which is a fund-raiser for the arts group.

"They are unique, handmade, one-of-a-kind items, made by our local artists," said Arts Clayton Gallery Assistant, Courtney Fort. "We have wood items, ceramics, jewelry, prints. We even have lamps made out of recycled materials, and fabric things too, like scarves and bags."

People will be able to come by the Arts Clayton Gallery from now, until Dec. 18, to shop at the market. The prices, Fort said, range from $2, to $500. The gallery is open Tuesday, through Friday, from 9 a.m., to 5 p.m., and Saturdays, from 10 a.m., to 4 p.m.

Some of the items on sale at the market include prints of pictures painted by Arts Clayton exhibitors; original, framed pictures; glass items, and hand-made dolls. There are also more conventional, everyday items, such as honey dippers, rolling pins, bottle stoppers, book marks, ceramic plates and hand-made soap. There is even a pair of judge's gavels.

"There are more everyday items, versus holiday items this year, so you definitely can find stuff that people can use throughout the year, and not just at Christmas," said Arts Clayton Gallery Manager, Karen Powers.

Powers added that the market is not just a place to find something to give to a loved one, or a best friend, for Christmas. "A lot of these items make great corporate gifts for companies to give to employees and clients," she said.

She added the Mistletoe Market is not the only holiday-related activity taking place at the Arts Clayton Gallery this month.

Arts Clayton is scheduled to hold its annual Holiday Party, and the Arts Clayton Gallery's 10th birthday celebration tonight, from 5:30 p.m., to 7:30 p.m. This event is free to attend.

The gallery is scheduled to hold "Santa Saturdays" this Saturday, and again on Dec. 11. This is an activity where people can bring their children, and even pets, to the gallery, to have their picture taken with "Santa Clause."

The gallery will also host its second annual Jewelry Sale, on Dec. 18, from 10 a.m., to 4 p.m., to coincide with the closing of the Mistletoe Market, according to Powers.
