Mitten Tree Day will be celebrated at the Clayton County Headquarters Library, in Jonesboro.
Children, at the library, are asked to color paper mittens, and hang them on a paper tree. The tree will be displayed until the actual Mitten Tree Day, which is Monday, Dec. 6, said Bea Mengel, youth services librarian for the Headquarters Library.
Mengel said it is believed that Mitten Tree Day was created by a grade-school teacher, to usher in the month of December, and the winter season. Any age group of children can participate in the project, Mengel added.
"They can come anytime the library is open, up until the 6th [of December]," said Mengel. The Headquarters library is located, at 865 Battle Creek Road, Jonesboro. Children can participate in the project today from 9 a.m., until 6 p.m., Saturday from 9 a.m., until 5 p.m. and Sunday from 1:30 p.m., until 5:30 p.m. -- Mehgaan Jones
