Burnett, Robert Grant Age: 66

Passed Away: 2010-12-06

Funeral Home:

Robert Grant Burnett, 66, of Atlanta, passed away Dec. 6, 2010. He was preceded in death by his father, Upton Grant Burnett. He is survived by Mrs. Evelyn Cook Burnett, Eric Burnett, Shea Burnett, Victoria Jordan, Nancy Harold and Evy Harold. Among the many hats Robert Burnett wore were those of fireman, farrier, computer programmer, software designer, homebuilder, entrepreneur, businessman, amateur historian and most importantly, devoted father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle, nephew and cousin. Unlike those individuals who move from trade to trade, due to a lack of success, Robert mastered each of his roles. As an active, lifelong learner, who enjoyed physical and mental challenges, Robert continuously expanded his circle of expertise, knowledge and friends, who represented the whole strata of society from top to bottom. Robert was a peerless raconteur and enjoyed good conversation and lively debate, neither giving, nor taking personal offense, in his colorful exchanges and storytelling. Hampered somewhat by failing health in recent years, he nonetheless displayed the noble qualities of devotion to family, hard work, generosity, individual responsibility, tolerance and kindness to his fellow man, and animals, too. Friends may visit the family Thursday, Dec. 9, from 4 p.m., to 8 p.m., at the Haisten Funeral Home, 1745 Zack Hinton Parkway South, McDonough, Ga., 30253, (770) 914-8833, Contributions are asked to be made to the Shingleroof Campground, 200 Campground Court, McDonough, Ga., 30253, in memory of Robert.
