Mr. James Turner McCart, 79, of McDonough, passed away Dec. 6, 2010. He was born in Covington, to the late Bruce and Vera Moss McCart. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Gwen Cochran McCart, in 1985; son, Charles T. McCart, and siblings, Bruce McCart, Jr., Mary Lou Crumbley, William Rosie McCart, Raymond McCart and Eugene McCart. Jim retired after 31 years with General Motors and was a former Henry County Commissioner. He was a member of Sardis Baptist Church and enjoyed fishing, farming, tractors and the mountains. Survivors include his wife, Betty Cobb McCart; sons, David (Denise) McCart, of Locust Grove, and James D. (Melonie) McCart, Sr., of Glencoe, Ala.; sister, Dorothy Tribble, of Palmer, Tenn.; brother, Pierce Jack (Tiny) McCart, of Jackson; sisters-in-law, Martha Huckaby, Peggy McCart, Mary Frances McCart, and Eunice McCart; stepchildren, Rickey (Kathy) Kendrick, of Jackson, Rhonda Standard, of Ridgeland, S.C., Keith (Laura) Kendrick, Regina (David) Cooley, Pam (Walter) Head, and Rex Kendrick, all of Griffin, Ga.; grandchildren, Christina Berry, Michael McCart, Elizabeth McCart, Christopher McCart, James D. Jamie McCart, Jr., Jeremy McCart, Maxine McCart, Mary Sue McCart and Monica McCart; 9 step-grandchildren; numerous step-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, Dec. 9, at 2 p.m., from the Chapel of Haisten Funeral Home. Dr. Archie Norman will officiate. Interment will follow at Haisten/Eastlawn Memorial Park. Friends may visit the family TODAY (Wednesday), from 2 p.m., to 4 p.m., and 6 p.m., to 8 p.m., at the funeral home.
