Hark! The herald angel sings, "Reserve your spot now for carols at Stately Oaks!"
Historical Jonesoro/Clayton County, Inc., will host its first-ever "Caroling by Candlelight" event on Saturday, at 6:30 p.m., in the Bethel Schoolhouse, at Stately Oaks Plantation, which is located at 100 Carriage Lane, in Jonesboro. The event will feature traditional Christmas carols, performed by the St. Philip Benizi Catholic Church Children's Choir.
There will also be light refreshments, tours of the first floor of Stately Oaks house, a visit by "Father Christmas," and Christmas shopping at the plantation's Juddy's Store, according to Barbara Emert, the president of Historical Jonesboro/Clayton County, Inc.
Emert added that she and other officials from the historical society are asking that people who plan to attend "Caroling by Candlelight" call in advance, and make reservations. She said reservations are being requested because event organizers need to know whether a second performance by the children's choir, at 7:30 p.m., will be have to be scheduled.
For more information, call (770) 473-0197. Admission for the event will cost $5 per person, but admission for children 5 and under is free.
