King Elementary to host social science fair

Saturday

Clayton State University will hold its fall 2010 commencement ceremonies on Saturday, Dec., at 9 a.m., and noon, in the school's Athletics and Fitness Center, which is on Clayton State's main campus in Morrow. University System of Georgia Chancellor Erroll B. Davis, Jr., will speak at the 9 a.m., ceremony, which is for graduates of the university's College of Arts and Sciences. Clayton State senior faculty member, Cathie Aust, will speak at the noon ceremony, which is for graduates of the university's School of Business, College of Health, College of Information and Mathematical Sciences, and recipients of bachelor's degrees in applied science, and associate's degree recipients from the College of Arts and Sciences.

The Riverdale branch of the Clayton County Library System will hold "Donuts With Dad" on Saturday, Dec. 11, from noon, until 1 p.m., at the library branch, which is located at 420 Valley Hill Road, in Riverdale. The Clayton County Board of Education will hold its December Work Session meeting on Monday, Dec. 13, beginning at 6 p.m., at the Clayton County Public Schools Central Administration Complex, which is located at 1058 Fifth Ave., in Jonesboro.

The Jonesboro branch of the Clayton County Library System will host "Christmas Stories and Crafts" for local children, on Monday, Dec. 13, from 7 p.m., to 7:45 p.m., at the library branch, which is located at 124 Smith Street, in Jonesboro. State Board of Education member, Mary Sue Murray, is scheduled to hold a public forum on Thursday, Dec. 16, from 7 p.m., to 8 p.m., at the Clayton County Public Schools Central Administration Complex, located at 1058 Fifth Ave., in Jonesboro. The purpose of the forum is to get public input on state education policies and performance, from residents of Georgia's 13th Congressional District, which Murray represents on the state board. People who would like to speak at the forum will have to sign up at the meeting site, before the session begins. The Clayton County Public Library System offers many services to students, including tutoring programs for those who speak either English or Spanish, and online practice tests and electronic test-preparation books for the SAT, GED, ASVAB, and TOEFFL exams. The Everett Music School is offering a Music After School Program for local children, at the school's new location at the Emmanuel Baptist Church Campus, at 230 Ga. Hwy. 138, Bldg. B, in Riverdale. Through the program, youths receive homework assistance, Criterion-Reference Competency Test (CRCT) preparation, math and reading enrichment, and music lessons for piano, drums, singing and music theory.
