The Clayton County Board of Education is scheduled to meet Saturday for a morning retreat, where it will discuss issues such as the school district's accreditation, and its budget.
The retreat is scheduled to begin at 8 a.m., and run through 1:30 p.m., at the S. Truett Cathy Professional Learning Center, which is located at 1087 Battle Creek Road, in Jonesboro.
There are four main topics the board is expected to address: accreditation, school board member professional development, Superintendent Edmond Heatley's goals and objectives for the current school year, and the school system's budget.
During discussions on the school board's budget, board members are expected to consider the possibility of doing some redistricting, and rezoning for school attendance zones in the county, as well as the possibility of another Reduction in Force (RIF).
The school system RIFed several positions in its fiscal year 2011 budget, but Heatley has lately been warning board members that additional RIFs will be needed to help balance the fiscal year 2012 budget.
