Conkle, Robert Henderson Age: 91
Passed Away: 2010-12-17
Mr. Robert Henderson Conkle, 91, of Hampton, passed away Dec. 17, 2010. Mr. Conkle was born in Hampton, the son of the late Eugene Elijah and Ida Maude Floyd Conkle. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Wise Conkle; sisters, Dorothy Conkle and Elsie Conkle; brother, Thomas Conkle. Mr. Conkle served his country in the U. S. Army, from 1942 to 1945, receiving the WWII Victory Medal, Asiatic Pacific Service Medal, and two bronze stars. He retired from Ford Motor Company with 30-plus years of service. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, getting out and riding, farming, fishing, and making homemade stew. Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Gene and Angela Conkle, of Hampton; five grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren; sisters, Ann Arendall, Ellen Henderson, Edna and Bill Hensler, Audrey and Marcus Tuck, and Linda and Roy Parrish; brother, Jimmy Conkle; bother-in-law, John Warren and Brenda Wise; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services for Mr. Conkle will be TODAY (Tuesday, Dec 21), at 11 a.m., in the Liberty Hill Baptist Church, with the Rev. Chuck Conkle officiating. Interment will follow at Mt.
