Head, Mrs. Mina Age: 96
Passed Away: 2010-12-20 Funeral Home: Conner-Westbury Funeral Home Mrs. Mina Head Jan. 30, 1914 Dec. 20, 2010 Mrs. Mina Head, age 96, of Griffin, passed away peacefully on Monday, Dec. 20, 2010 at her residence, with her niece and caregiver, Alyce Waller, next to her side. Mrs. Head was born in Butts County on Jan. 30, 1914 to the late Lewis Alonza Atkinson and the late Alice Thaxton Atkinson. She was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, James Red Head. Mrs. Head was also preceded in death by sisters, Lucy Olgivie and Alma Flynt. She was a member of the DeVotie Baptist Church, former president of Griffin B & P W Club, and a member of the Griffin Kiwanian. She loved quilting, square dancing, and the RV trips. Survivors include sister, Lucile Horton; great niece, Alyce Waller; nieces, Miriam Blankenship, Phyllis Wilcox; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Tommy and Nadine Head; special great-great-great-niece, Angelina Routher. She shared a special bond with several other nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, Dec. 23, at 2 p.m., in the chapel of Conner-Westbury Funeral Home. The Rev. Jack Landham will officiate. Entombment will follow in Westwood Gardens Mausoleum. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home. Conner-Westbury Funeral Home, 1891 W.
