Headquarters library to host Kwanzaa craft event

Monday

The Headquarters branch of the Clayton County Library System will hold a "Kwanzaa Craft" event on Monday, Dec. 27, from 10 a.m., to 11 a.m., at the library branch, which is located at 865 Battle Creek Road, in Jonesboro. Advance registration is requested. For more information, call (770)473-3850.

The Riverdale branch of the Clayton County Library System will hold a "Holiday Movie and a Craft" event on Monday, Dec. 27, from 7 p.m., to 8:30 p.m., at the library branch, which is located at 420 Valley Hill Road, in Riverdale. The Forest Park branch of the Clayton County Library System will hold "Board Game Day" on Wednesday, Dec. 29, from 2 p.m., to 4 p.m., at the library branch, which is located at 696 Main Street, in Forest Park. Clayton State University recently announced Jonesboro resident, Ethel M. Callen, Morrow residents, Andrea Turner Stallworth, and Malika Pen, and Forest Park resident, Narin Sam, recently earned master's degrees from the school, during a hooding ceremony on Dec. 10. Callen received a master's degree in health Administration, while Sam and Stallworth received master's degrees in business administration, and Pen earned a master's degree in liberal studies.

The Georgia National Guard recently announced Ellenwood residents, Lecobian Hutchins, Elan Lewis, and Jermaine Murphy; Riverdale resident, Ja'Mar Odom; Morrow resident Austin Thompson, and Rex resident, Markcus Williams, have graduated from the National Guard's "Youth Challenge Academy," at Fort Stewart, in Hinesville, on Dec. 18. The program, according to the Georgia National Guard, is designed to provide 'at-risk' youths, between the ages of 16, and 18, with values, skills, education and self-discipline they can use to succeed as adults.
