A 39-year-old woman who escaped custody in Clayton County, is back in jail after authorities arrested her again.
Amy Diane Hightower fled from Southern Regional Medical Center, in Riverdale, on Monday evening, according to Deputy Alicia Parkes, Clayton County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman.
"On her way to the Clayton County Jail, she complained of being sick, and was taken to Southern Regional Medical Center," Parkes said.
She added there were no details available on Tuesday, regarding how Hightower escaped, and said it was still under investigation.
After the escape, the Clayton County Sheriff's Office Fugitive Unit, along with the assistance of the Atlanta Police Department, located Hightower, later on Monday night, Parkes said. The suspect was apprehended at an apartment complex, located at 1490 Fisher Road, in Atlanta.
According to Deputy Parkes, Hightower was initially being transferred from Fulton County, to Clayton County, because she had warrants in Clayton County. Hightower faces theft by shoplifting, and obstruction of an officer charges in Clayton County, Parkes said. Online court records did not indicate additional charges, on Tuesday.
Hightower was still in custody at the Clayton County Jail, Tuesday night, according to jail officials.
