Two families received toys and clothing for the holidays, thanks to a donation of $1,000 to the Kinship Care Resource Center, from the Clayton County Fire and Emergency Services Department.
The check was presented to the Kinship Care Resource Center's Grandparents Raising Grandchildren Program last week, to help families during the holidays, according to Marquita Bundrage, event and marketing coordinator for the Clayton County Senior Services Department. The Kinship Resource Center provides assistance to grandparents raising grandchildren.
"We knew we wanted our donation to go to a much needed organization, and we immediately thought of Kinship Care," said Clayton County Fire and Emergency Services Interim Chief Jeff Hood.
He added that the fire and emergency services department raises funds for charities throughout the year.
Hood said he contacted Mary Byrd, Director of Clayton County Senior Services, to offer the funds to the Kinship Center.
"This goes a long way in helping the grandparents in our program who are raising their grandchildren, and we truly appreciate it," said Byrd.
"We felt like we needed to help out within our community...and we will continue to do that," said Hood.
