A teenager was hospitalized in critical condition Thursday after apparently, accidentally shooting himself in the head, Clayton County Police said.
Zabian Harris, 17, was taken to Southern Regional Medical Center after suffering a gunshot wound while inside a unit at the Highland Woods Apartments on Riverdale Road, police Lt. Tina Daniel said.
She said four other men, between 17 and 23 years old, were also in the apartment at the time the silver revolver went off. Police were called around 12:45 p.m.
She said Harris did not live in the apartment, but one of the other four men did. She said it was not clear where the victim lived. The identities of the other four men were not released.
Daniel said the men were being interviewed by police Thursday afternoon, to determine how the shooting occurred and who owned the gun.
"It appears to be an accidental shooting, however the investigation is still pending," she said.
She said any charges would be based on the outcome of the investigation.
