Qualifying for candidates seeking to fill the unexpired term of Morrow City Councilman Charles Sorrow will begin today at the Morrow Municipal Complex.
The qualifying period for the March 16 special election will be today through Friday, from 8:30 a.m., to noon, and from 1 p.m., to 4:30 p.m., on all three days. The qualifying fee for the at-large post is $270, according to Morrow City Manager Jeff Eady.
In January, Sorrow resigned from the council due to health complications. According to Eady, whoever is elected to replace him will serve "through the end of 2011." In November of 2011, there will be a general election to fill the expired terms of Sorrow's replacement, Mayor Jim Millirons, and Councilman Mason Barfield, he said.
The Morrow Municipal Complex is located at 1500 Morrow Road, in Morrow. For more information about qualifying, contact Elections Superintendent Evyonne Browning at (770) 961-4002.
