Luella 68, Union Grove 50 (boys): The Luella and Union Grove basketball teams renewed their Region 2-AAAAA and county rivalry Tuesday with the Lions winning the game going away. Luella improved its record to 15-8 overall and 6-7 in the region. Union Grove fell to 11-12 oveall and 6-7 in Region 2-AAAAA. The two teams split during the regular season, with Union Grove winning the first meeting 74-73. Mt. Zion 65, Jonesboro 55 (boys): With the Region 4-AAAA tournament set to begin in their own gym next week, the Mt. Zion Bulldogs closed out the regular season on a high note, knocking off rival Jonesboro 65-55. The victory by the Bulldogs snapped the Cardinals' seven-game winning streak. Despite the loss, Jonesboro still hangs on to second place in the Region 4-AAAA standings, finishing the regular season 15-10 overall and 11-5 in the region. Mt. Zion also finished at 15-10 oveall, but 10-6 in the region. North Clayton 75, Griffin 43 (boys): The North Clayton boys improved to 23-2 overall and 14-2 in Region 4-AAAA action with a home victory against the Bears. It was the last regular season game of the year for North Clayton. North Clayton heads to next week's Region 4-AAAA tournament as regular season champions of the league. Regardless of what happens at the region tourney, North Clayton has also earned a spot at the state tournament. Wesleyan 76, ELCA 58 (boys): The Wolves came into McDonough on Tuesday night and snapped the Chargers four-game winning streak. ELCA dropped to 10-11 overall and 3-2 in subregion Region 7S-A. The Chargers have regular season games left with Paideia away on Friday and at home against Tech High School on Saturday. Alcovy 66, Ola 59 (boys): The Ola boys dropped their fourth game in a row with a 66-59 loss to Alcovy. Ola, which started the year with four wins in a row, finished the regular season with a 9-14 overall record and a 6-10 mark in the league. Staff ReportsMore like this story
