Few could have expected for the Forest Park girls basketball team that a late-season game against Griffin would hold as much significance as it did Thursday night. Lady Bears sophomore Jahmiya Clemons scored 15 of her 20 points in the first half to help Griffin upset previously ranked Forest Park, 59-50. After holding a share of first place in Region 4-AAAA for the entire season, the loss drops the Lady Panthers (20-5, 14-2) to second behind Dutchtown (22-2, 15-1), who defeated Forest Park on Tuesday, 57-54. Had Forest Park won, leaving the Lady Panthers and Dutchtown tied atop the standings, a coin toss would have determined which team received the No. 1 seed in the region tournament that begins Monday at Mt. Zion.More like this story
