Rasham Suarez of Jonesboro and Brittney Strickland of Dutchtown were named Region 4-AAAA players of the year by the league's coaches.
Suarez, a 6-foot-1 junior, transferred to Jonesboro this school year after moving from Las Vegas. The Cardinals lost in the second round of the recent completed region tournament.
Strickland, a senior point guard, led the Bulldogs to their first-ever region championship.
She has signed to play at Alabama A&M next season. Earlier this season, she scored her 1,000 career point.
The first team consisted of Chris Davis of Stockbridge, which won the region tournament. North Clayton guard Zach Bradley, a Clayton State signee, and Stephen Wilson of Mount Zion also made the first team. Rounding out the team were sophomores Devon Edwards of Alcovy and Marcus Hunt of North Clayton.
Making the girls first team was Kierra Dennis of Jonesboro and Forest Park teammates Ashlee Cole and Keaynna Allen. Rounding out the team was North Clayton's Miranda Cantrell and Lisa Kossally of Alcovy.
The boys second team was Troy Swanson of Ola and Mount Zion teammates Jarrell King and Karon Hodge. Derrick Brock of Dutchtown and Donte Campbell round out the second team.
For the girls, the second team selections were Brea Trice of Dutchtown, Amaria Moreland of Stockbridge, Jasmine Manning of Jonesboro and Forest Park Jessica Anderson.
Duane Kelley of Stockbridge and Angela Williams of Dutchtown were named coaches of the year for leading their teams to the region champions.
