Clayton County authorities nabbed a man they say was wanted on a drug warrant, but not before the man allegedly fled from deputies during a traffic stop and struck a pedestrian and another vehicle.
Clayton County Sheriff's Sgt. Sonja Sanchez said Wednesday that deputies tried to stop 26-year-old Jeffery Lane on Ga. Highway 85 earlier this week, but he led them on a short chase.
Sanchez said that during Tuesday afternoon's pursuit, Lane struck a pedestrian, causing minor injuries, and struck another vehicle. He was already wanted on a drug warrant and one for a probation violation, Sanchez said, but now faces a list of other charges, including defective equipment, reckless driving, aggressive driving, fleeing from police, obstruction of an officer, leaving the scene of an accident and driving with a suspended license.
She said Lane faces an additional drug charge after 1.8 grams of suspected cocaine was found.
