PBC showdown: CSU entertains USC Aiken in doubleheader

The Clayton State basketball teams are in the middle of a busy month of January, and it continues today when the men and women's squads take on USC Aiken in a Peach Belt Conference doubleheader on the Morrow campus.

Women's action gets underway tonight at 5:30 p.m., followed by the men's game at 7:30 p.m.

The Clayton State women enter tonight's PBC showdown with a No. 14-ranking, a 12-2 overall record and a 3-1 mark in league play.

The Pacers come into the women's showdown with a 6-9 overall record and a 1-5 mark in conference play.

On Wednesday, the CSU women trailed early at Columbus State, but rallied for the 65-55 victory.

USC Aiken has lost its last two games in a row, including its game Wednesday against Francis Marion.

Clayton State comes into the contest averaging 75.3 points per game.

The Laker women are giving up only 59.6 points per game, including a 79-77 defeat to Francis Marion.

Teshymia Tillman leads CSU with a 19.1 points per game average. She is the only CSU player averaging in double figures.

Tanisha Woodard (9.6 points per game), Latondra Bruce (9.4 PPG) and LaDe'Sha Stoudamire (9.1 PPG) are hovering close to the double-figure mark in scoring for the Lakers.

The Pacers are led Catherine Cain, who leads her team with a 13.0 points per game average.

CSU men look to get back on track: The Clayton State men will try to get off the roller coaster ride tonight when they play the second half of the conference doubleheader against USC Aiken.

The Lakers' season can best be described as a series of streaks--sometimes winning several games in a row, and sometimes losing several games in a row.

After snapping a three-game losing streak earlier this year, and rolling off four wins in a row, CSU has dropped its last two contests, including a heartbreaking 66-64 loss to Columbus on the road Wednesday night.

USC Aiken had won seven games in a row, until falling 77-71 in overtime to Francis Marion.

The Lakers bring an 8-6 overall record and a 6-3 Peach Belt mark into league play.

Clayton State comes into the game with USC Aiken averaging 76.1 points per game. They are giving up just 65.6 points per contest. USC Aiken enters the game with a 9-4 overall record and a 5-2 PBC record.

Robert Murry leads Clayton State in scoring with 16.1 points per game. Brandon Robinson (14.4 points per game) and Timothy Downs (12.2 PPG) are both averaging in double figures for the Lakers.

Byron Faison leads USC Aiken with 13.5 points per game.
