Clayton County Public Schools Superintendent Edmond Heatley will update the county's school board about options for reducing spending in fiscal year 2011, when the board meets on Monday, Jan. 25.
The meeting, scheduled to begin at 5:30 p.m., will be held at the Clayton County Public Schools Central Administration Complex, which is located at 1058 Fifth Ave., in Jonesboro.
The school system's projections call for the district to end fiscal year 2011 with a deficit of $8 million. Schools Spokesman Charles White said details of the budget options were not available Friday, because Heatley had not yet finished his presentation for the school board.
Other items on the board's agenda for Monday include: discussions on the proposed boundaries for the Eddie J. White K-8 Academy; the district's five-year facilities plan; textbook adoptions for language arts and mathematics; and revising board policies dealing with school board-staff relations, the code of ethics for school board members and staff members, possible reductions in force, and professional personnel vacancies and transfers.
