At the Riverdale branch of the Clayton County Library System on Thursday, dozens of children got their pirate on, when they delved into the world made famous by names such as "Blackbeard," "Black Bart," "Calico Jack," "Barbarossa," and even "Jack Sparrow."

The Riverdale branch hosted "Pirate Tales," in which the approximately 40 youngsters listened to several short stories about pirates, and made pictures of pirate ships out of pieces of construction paper, and also made foam animals and plants.

Ramona Clark, the youth services librarian, said the program was held to coordinate with the water-themed summer reading program that is going on at all Georgia libraries this year.

Clark said she does a storytime, and craft session every Thursday, at 10 a.m., in the library branch's meeting room. Call (770) 472-8100, for more information about the sessions.
