Twice a month now, music lovers can spend time in Locust Grove, if they want to hear some summertime tunes in a relaxed social setting.
A performance by Dusty Beach, a local singer, is scheduled for July 9, from, 7 to 9 p.m., in the city's Mayor's Walk Park, according to Linda Hutchison, Downtown Development Coordinator for the City of Locust Grove.
Beach's appearance is part of the annual "Music In Mayor's Walk Park" program, which features live music in the city's downtown area, July through September, said Hutchison, the organizer of the musical series.
The performances are held the second and fourth Friday nights of the month, she said, as a way to attract more people to the downtown area, and boost business for the local merchants.
Hutchison said the concerts are popular.
"Last year, at our largest gathering, we had about 85 people," she said. "They like the music, but also getting out and visiting with their friends. Some of them bring their own picnic dinner."
