Clayton County Public Schools officials are inviting local educators to attend a job fair the district is holding to hire special education, foreign language, English to speakers of other languages, and secondary mathematics teachers, on Thursday.
The job fair is open to any teacher, regardless of what school system they taught in prior to this summer, said Clayton School System Spokesman Charles White. Even Teacher Retirement System applicants are invited to attend the job fair, he said.
"As long as they are certified, and highly qualified, they are welcome to attend," he added.
The job fair will be held, on Thursday, from 1 p.m., to 4 p.m., at the S. Truett Cathy Professional Learning Center, which is located at 1087 Battle Creek Road, in Jonesboro.
To gain admission, educators must be able to provide a clear copy of their renewable teaching certificate, or proof of enrollment in an approved certification program, as well as their Georgia Assessments for the Certification of Educators (GACE) test scores, according to a flyer for the job fair.
According to the flyer, the school system is especially interested in certified special education teachers, who are experienced in the areas of speech/language pathology, severe profound intellectual disabilities, moderate intellectual disabilities, hearing impaired children, orthopedically impaired youths, and autism.
The flyer also states that the school system is looking for foreign language teachers, who can teach French, Spanish, or Latin.
