Terence Wise is planning an investment seminar that he said will provide residents with more financial savvy.

"It's going to give people a reason to get back in the market," said Wise, a financial advisor at the Edward Jones office, located at 2141 Ga. Highway 155 North in McDonough.

Wise said the "Rules of the Road" investment seminar will be held Aug. 21, from 11 a.m., until 1 p.m., in the Henry County Community Room, at 116 South Zack Hinton Parkway, in McDonough.

Next month's seminar will be free, and open to the public, said Wise. However, space is limited. Those interested in participating should reserve space by calling Wise's office at (678) 583-5090.

The financial advisor said the seminar will cover the keys to successful investing by addressing such issues as the most common investment mistakes, and how to avoid them, investing strategies to help reach long-term goals, and what to do, now, in preparation for retirement.

"We want to point out some mistakes that are commonly made in investing," Wise said. "It's [also] a way for me to let people get to know me without having the pressure of selling them anything."

Wise, 43, has lived in McDonough for the past eight years, with his wife of seven years, Paula, and their children, Austin Newton, 22, and Jaylan Wise, 17.

He said he began financial advising at Edward Jones in January, following an early retirement as a security manager at the Coca Cola Company in Atlanta.
