A chance of rain will not keep the City of Morrow from holding an early Fourth of July event this weekend, the city recently announced.
Morrow will hold SummerFest on the Green 2010, a celebration of "our nation's independence," on Saturday, from 4 p.m., to 10 p.m., at Olde Towne Morrow, which is located behind Southlake Mall.
The event is free for anyone to attend.
According to a written statement from Michael Twomey, the president of the Morrow Business and Tourism Association, the event will include games and activities for children, including a rock-climbing wall. It will also include musical acts, such as The Party Nation, with special guests Eleven Standing Still, and Herb Jones and Friends, Twomey said.
He added that there will be a fireworks show at the end of the event.
The city's "rain or shine" stance on holding the event may end up being more of a "despite the rain" stance, however, based on weather forecasts from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. NOAA, on its web site –– www.weather.gov/ –– is predicting a 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, likely to happen sometime between 2 p.m., and 8 p.m., Saturday.
