Boy hit by car still critical

Nearly a week after being struck by a car as he attempted to cross Ga. Highway 85, a Church Street Elementary School student remained in critical condition Tuesday, according to a spokesperson for Children's Healthcare of Atlanta.

Artavius Hall, 10, was reportedly taken to Children's Healthcare of Atlanta at Egleston after the Feb. 24 incident, in critical condition.

Police said he was struck by a white, 2005 Chrysler 300 near the crossing of Commerce Circle and Ga. Highway 85 at approximately 6:50 a.m.

According to Clayton County police, he was attempting to board a C-TRAN bus from the opposite side of the street.

Clayton County Police Lt. Tina Daniel said last week that Hall and his younger brother had crossed the southbound side of Ga. Highway 85 and were attempting to cross the northbound side from the median. Daniel said northbound drivers on Ga. Highway 85 had the green light, and that Hall was wearing a dark jacket, with a hood, at the time of the accident.

According to Daniel, the driver of the vehicle stayed with Hall until authorities arrived on the scene. She said last week that no charges are being filed against the driver of the vehicle that struck Hall.
