A singer with The Regulars Band is in fair condition, following a motorcycle wreck that killed a Jonesboro man.
Lindsey Smith, 20, of Rex, is recovering at Atlanta Medical Center, according to hospital spokesperson, Kendra Gerlach. The driver of the motorcycle, 20-year-old Roy Kerlegan, III, died in the accident.
Smith and Kerlegan were involved in a crash on Kerlegan's motorcycle Monday at approximately 7:15 p.m., according to Henry County Police Capt. Jason Bolton.
"A BMW 525i, traveling southbound on Mt. Zion Parkway, turned left in front of [Kerlegan's] Suzuki GSR 650 motorcycle into the north entrance of BrandsMart," said Bolton. "The motorcycle collided with the passenger side of the BMW."
Kerlegan, said Bolton, was transported to Henry Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
"Smith was transported by ground to Atlanta Medical Center," continued the captain. "The driver of the BMW was 49-year-old Clayton Sinegal, of Rex."
Charges against Sinegal are pending, Bolton said, and the investigation is ongoing.
Smith is a vocalist in The Regulars Band, which also includes her brother, Lee. The band was formed in 2005, following an appearance by Lindsey Smith in a talent show at Eagle's Landing High School, where she was a student. She now attends classes at Georgia State University.
Kerlegan also attended Georgia State, where he studied business and was a member of the Pi Chapter of Alpha Kappa Psi, a co-ed, professional business fraternity, according to the Augusta Chronicle. His funeral, the newspaper said, will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday at Platt's Funeral Home, in Evans, Ga.
