Local golf enthusiasts, who are interested in teeing up for a game on the greens, have only two more weeks to sign up for Clayton County Public Schools' first golf tournament fund-raiser, and enjoy a reduced fee to participate.
The tournament, aimed at raising money for the Superintendent's Scholarship fund, will be held on April 23, at the Lake Spivey Golf Club.
Golfers can sign up for the tournament for a $75 per person player's fee, if they get their registration form, and fee, in the mail and postmarked by April 9, according to the registration form.
That form also states that any golfer whose registration form is not in the mail by that time will have to pay a higher player's fee $100 per player.
It's only a difference of $25, per player, but on a team of four golfers, that adds up to $100 more that the team, as a whole, has to pay.
The funds will be used by the school system to "reward our young men, and young women [students] for their academic, athletic and social successes."
Registration forms can be found on the school system's web site, www.clayton.k12.ga.us/, and should be sent to "Luvenia Jackson, Clayton County Public Schools, PSA Golf Tournament, 1058 Fifth Ave., Jonesboro, Ga. 30236."
Jackson, the school system's special assistant to Superintendent Edmond Heatley, and the organizer of the tournament, could not be reached for comment on Wednesday.
