A Clayton County man is being held in the Henry County Jail, without bond, for allegedly stealing a computer from an acquaintance at an area motel.
Sergio Alonzo Salas, 24, of Forest Park, is charged with armed robbery. He appeared in Henry County Magistrate Court on Tuesday, represented by the Public Defender's Office.
The incident allegedly occurred early in the morning on March 23, at the Baymont Inn & Suites located at 100 North Park Drive in Stockbridge. The suspect, according to an arrest warrant obtained by Henry County Police on the day of the reported robbery, allegedly used a gun to steal a laptop computer and personal property from a Hampton resident.
"The weapon was described as a semi-automatic handgun," said Henry County Police Capt. Jason Bolton. "The suspect and victim knew each other. Nothing else was taken."
A man who identified himself as the motel's manager did not give his name, and declined to comment.
Henry County Magistrate Judge Robert Godwin reset a preliminary hearing in the case for April 23. If a judge finds probable cause to justify Salas' arrest on the armed robbery charge, bond would be set in Superior Court.
