Clayton County students will have a week off from learning subjects like English and mathematics, from Monday, April 5, to Friday, April 9, the school system has announced. The Clayton County Public Schools will be closed for spring break.
During the school district's week-long spring break, all schools and school system offices will be closed, according to a written statement from School System Spokesman Charles White. He added that the district's schools and offices will re-open, and students will return to class, on Monday, April 12.
White also said members of the school system's internal accreditation team will remain on-call, though, in case the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools' (SACS) review team has any questions about the accreditation report the district sent to the accrediting agency earlier this month.
White said the SACS review team is scheduled to be in the district, visiting schools and interviewing community members, school system staff and Clayton County Board of Education members on April 15 and 16.
The SACS visit is part of the two-year probationary period the accrediting agency put in place when the school system regained its accreditation in May 2009.
