Grammy award-winning, inspirational, singing duo, BeBe and CeCe Winans, will be the featured performers during a "Mother's Day" concert this Saturday at Clayton County International Park.
Danlejon Productions, and Praise 102.5 FM, will host "Mom ... This One's For You," on May 8 at International Park, located at 2300 Ga. Highway 138, S.E. in Jonesboro.
The concert will take place from 7 p.m., to 11 p.m., and according to Clayton County International Park Administrator Troy Stubbs, it will also feature performances by gospel artist and Praise 102.5 FM personality, Darlene McCoy, and local gospel singer, Gerard Placide. Stubbs said Saturday's concert will serve as the first of two at International Park planned for this year.
"We're pretty excited that we're having another concert in our stadium," Stubbs said. "We do 'Praise in the Park' every year around August. This will be the first one that we've had since August of last year. It allows us to give more programing to the citizens of Clayton County. It gives Clayton County an opportunity to promote International Park as a destination spot, and gives people a chance to see what kind of events we can do out here."
Danlejon Promotions President Leon Tucker said this year marks the 15th anniversary of the reunion of BeBe and CeCe Winans as a singing duo. Two members of the famous gospel-singing family, the Winans, BeBe and CeCe, had pursued separate careers earlier, he said.
Tucker said the concert will be the duo's first concert in the Southern Crescent.
"They have gone to [The] Fox [Theatre] or Chastain [Park]," in the past, he said. "It's [Clayton County International Park is] such a nice venue and a lot of people don't know about it. We're counting on Clayton and Henry heavily.
"You're not going to find a brother and sister, especially in inspirational music, who are as great as they are," he added. "In their performances, they make you smile, they make you cry, they make you feel good about yourself."
Tucker said partial proceeds from Saturday's concert will benefit the Clayton County Public Schools Instrument Program to purchase musical instruments for aspiring students.
General admission for the concert is $35, with limited and V.I.P. seating available for $45 and $55 respectively.
