Members of the Touchdown Club at Eagle's Landing High School are attempting to galvanize community support for the school's football team.
The high school's football booster club is hosting a Blue/Gold Spring Game "Tailgate and Car Show Blow Out" event today, beginning at 5 p.m. "We're trying to make it fun, and bring in some of the feeder-schools to help support the team," said Claud Spinks, athletic director at Eagle's Landing. Concessions will be available. Today's activities include live music by a local, contemporary group, A Band with No Name. Raffle prizes also will be available. Those interested in entering the car show exhibit should contact Eagle's Landing Touchdown Club President Adam Stanfield, at (404) 643-0458. Registration for the car exhibit is $20, and set-up begins at 4 p.m. Trophies will be awarded for the top 20 cars judged in the car show. Spinks said the car show will be followed by the marquee spring game, which kicks off at 7:30 p.m., at the Eagle's Landing Athletic Stadium, at 301 Tunis Road in McDonough. He said today's event will be the first of its kind for the school's annual spring high school football scrimmage. "We're hoping for a good crowd," Spinks said. "Our Touchdown Club has done a nice job of trying to create a nice atmosphere for those who come out."More like this story
