Clayton Schools wins national financial reporting award

Clayton County school officials recently touted the accomplishments of their Budget and Finance Department, which has won the Association of School Business Officials International's Certificate of Excellence in Financial Reporting.

According to School System Spokesman Charles White, in a written statement, the department had to "provide a high quality Comprehensive Annual Financial Report for the fiscal year 2009" to qualify for the award.

"The work that goes into preparing a comprehensive annual financial report that qualifies for this recognition is incredible," School Superintendent Edmond T. Heatley said, also in a written statement. "I commend each member of the Budget and Finance staff for their dedicated effort in this process, and for their commitment to fiscal excellence."
