The seniors at Jonesboro High School huddled in the gymnasium on Wednesday morning, and practiced marching into their graduation ceremony, to the tune of Sir Edward Elgar's "Pomp and Circumstance Military Marches."
Then, they did it again. And again. And again.
They kept practicing their entry march until Jonesboro Assistant Principal Shakira Rice was satisfied that the students had gotten it -- not just right -- but perfect.
Scenes like this played out on Wednesday at many of the other Clayton County high schools that will conduct graduation ceremonies this weekend. In addition to Jonesboro, graduation practices took place Wednesday at Forest Park, Lovejoy, Morrow, Mt. Zion, and Riverdale high schools.
North Clayton High School had its first of two graduation practices on Tuesday. Today, Mundy's Mill High School is scheduled to hold its only graduation practice, while Forest Park, Lovejoy, Mt. Zion, North Clayton and Riverdale are scheduled to hold their second practices.
The eight Clayton County high schools that have graduating seniors will hold their graduation ceremonies on Friday and Saturday at the Georgia Dome, in Atlanta.
