Pair arrested on drug, weapons charges

A Riverdale couple was arrested on drug and weapons charges Friday, after Clayton County Police officers said they found three guns, and $400 worth of marijuana, at their home on Taylor Road, according to a spokesman for the police department.

The officers were at the home to serve a drug warrant, after complaints from neighbors, Officer Otis Willis, III, said.

Willis said Remarcus Gervonte Harper, and his girlfriend, Sha'quana N. Mathis, both 20, were each charged with violation of the Georgia Controlled Substances Act, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.

Willis said officers found a .45-caliber handgun, a 9-millimeter rifle, and a shotgun, as well as a zip-top bag filled with marijuana, in the home. Several smaller bags were found at the home as well, he said.

Online court records show Harper and Mathis are scheduled to make their first appearance in Clayton County Magistrate Court at 9 a.m., on Saturday. Harper and Mathis were being held in the Clayton County Jail Friday night, officials at the jail said.
