Chinese delegates experience the City of Jonesboro

The Road to Tara Museum and the City of Jonesboro welcomed 25 delegates from the Chinese province of Tianjin, Thursday.

The group is in Georgia for a three-week visit to several Georgia cities, through a program hosted by the Carl Vinson Institute, at the University of Georgia.

The delegates met with Jonesboro Mayor Luther Maddox, Thursday, at the museum, and he gave them City of Jonesboro lapel pins.

"We're located by the world's busiest airport, so that ... [helps] sell Jonesboro," said Maddox.

"The Chinese have a real love for 'Gone with the Wind,'" said Megan Drew, director of Marketing and Communications for the Clayton County Convention and Visitors Bureau.

According to Drew, Patrick Duncan, president of the Clayton County Convention Bureau, was also on hand, at the museum, giving out Rhett and Scarlett lapel pins.

The group, later, received a tour of the museum, a tour of Jonesboro, and a tour of nearby Stately Oaks Plantation.
