McGovern, Francis Age: 79
Passed Away: 2010-11-04 Funeral Home: Cannon Cleveland Funeral Directors Francis McGovern Francis McGovern, 79, of McDonough, died Thursday, Nov. 4, 2010. He was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., to the late James F. and Catherine D. Schmitt McGovern. He was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Doris Claire Richardson McGovern, the love of his life; and brothers, James McGovern, Farrell McGovern, and Jerome McGovern. He served his country in the Korean War, earning a Purple Heart, and was a Bronze Star recipient. Mr. McGovern is survived by his sons, Thomas McGovern, of McDonough, Edward (Pam) McGovern, of Oak Hill, Va.; daughter, Pamela Ann McGovern, of McDonough; grandchildren, Justin, Bryan and Matthew McGovern, of Ft. Myers, Fla., Ryan and Meredith McGovern, of Oak Hill, Va.; sister, Catherine McGovern; and brothers, Luke McGovern, and Donald McGovern. Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m., on Monday, Nov. 8, at St. James The Apostle Catholic Church, with Father John Murphy officiating. The family will receive friends Sunday, Nov. 7, from 2 p.m., to 4 p.m., at the funeral home. Those who wish, may sign the online guest registry at www.cannonclevelandfunerals.com.
