Mrs. Jean Bateman, 74, a long-time resident of McDonough, passed away Nov. 11, 2010 in Haralson. She was born in Atlanta to the late Aaron Bennett and Willie Lou Turner Roberts. She was preceded in death by a son, Todd Eugene Bateman, in 1968, a sister, Betty Ray, in 2004, and by her husband of 53 years, Revel Freeman Bateman, Jr., in 2008. Jean enjoyed cooking, flowers, shopping and eating catfish. She was a loving grandmother, who enjoyed time spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She attended Hampton United Methodist Church. Survivors include her sons, Nathan (Mary) Bateman, of Hampton; Ted (Tina) Bateman, of Haralson; Kent (Connie) Bateman, of McDonough; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, Nov.14, at 2 p.m., from the Chapel of Haisten Funeral Home. The Rev. Mark Burgess will officiate. Interment will follow at Haisten/Eastlawn Memorial Park. Friends may visit the family TODAY (Saturday), from 6 p.m., to 8 p.m., at the funeral home.
