Seven state education agencies and associations, including the University System of Georgia and the Georgia Department of Education, are teaming up to encourage the state's high school seniors to apply to college this week, officials announced late on Tuesday.
The University System, and the Department of Education, are working with the Georgia Foundation of Independent Colleges, the Technical College System of Georgia, the Georgia Student Finance Commission, the Georgia Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers, and Communities in Schools to sponsor "Georgia Apply to College Week." Locally, there are four Clayton County schools hosting "Georgia Apply to College Week" events. Riverdale High School will hold its event today, and Forest Park High School, Morrow High School, and the Eula Wilborn Ponds Perry Center for Learning will do their events on Friday. Volunteers from the sponsoring organizations, and colleges and universities from across the state will be at 109 Georgia schools, for one day this week, to help students at those schools fill out at least one college application, and show them how to use the state's college planning web site, GAcollege411.org/. — Curt YeomansMore like this story
