Clayton State University officials announced they are moving the Morrow-based school's fall graduation this year, from the traditional Thursday date it has held since the fall commencement ceremonies were first held in 1999.
The university will hold its fall 2010 semester commencement ceremonies on Saturday, Dec. 11, according to a statement from the school. Since the ceremonies were first held 11 years ago, they had been held on the second Thursday in December.
For the fourth consecutive year, this year, there will be two fall commencement ceremonies. The first ceremony, for an estimated 285 bachelor's and master's degree graduates of the College of Arts and Science, will begin at 9 a.m. The second ceremony, for graduates of the School of Business, College of Health, College of Information and Mathematical Science, the bachelor's in applied science program, and associates degree programs in the College of Arts and Sciences, will begin at noon.
Approximately 235 people are expected to receive degrees during the second commencement ceremony.
Both commencement ceremonies are scheduled to take place in Clayton State's Athletics and Fitness Center, according to the university's statement.
