Jose’ Ernesto Abeyta Feb. 22, 1930 – Nov. 17, 2010 Mr. Jose’ Ernesto Abeyta, age 80, of Jackson, passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 17, 2010 at his residence. Mr. Abeyta, also known as “Candy Man,” was born on Feb. 22, 1930 in Suffield, Colo., to the late Jose’ Lino Abeyta and the late Lupita Trujillo Abeyta. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Dustin Lamar Tolbert. He was a veteran of the United States Army and the United States Navy, having served during the Korean War. Mr. Abeyta was a retired postal carrier with the United States Postal Service. Mr. Abeyta is survived by his wife of 54 years, Gloria Sibley Abeyta; children, Therese Blease, Trini Abeyta, Mackie Rhodes, Karen Barbour, Kathy Darden, Doreen Rowe, Michelle Abeyta, and Jimmy Sibley; 15 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; sister, Jane Kirkland of Denver, Colo.; and three nieces. Memorial services were conducted on Sunday, Nov. 21, at 2 p.m., in the Chapel of Conner-Westbury Funeral Home. The Rev. Keith Rhodes officiated. Friends visited the family on Sunday afternoon from 1 p.m., until the hour of service.
