Clay Michael Hoard Clay Michael Hoard, age 44, of Jackson, died Thursday, Nov. 18, 2010. He was born at Sylvan Grove Hospital in Jackson on Jan. 22, 1966, son of the late Gery Michael Hoard, who died in 2003, and Linda Morgan McClelland, who survives. Clay was an honor graduate of Piedmont Academy in Monticello, where he was an outstanding athlete, being a Most Valuable Player in baseball, football and basketball. He attended Georgia Tech and graduated from LaGrange College. Clay enjoyed sports of all kinds, especially golf and football. He was a building products consultant and had worked for Westinghouse, Georgia Pacific and Marks Forest Company in Birmingham. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Jackson. Survivors include his daughters, Lura Ashley Hoard and Caly Michael Hoard of Acworth; his mother, Linda Morgan McClelland; sister and brother-in-law, Joyce and Cary Mosteller, all of Jackson; brother, Jason Hoard, of Jefferson, Ga.; aunts and uncles, Joyce and Bill Young and Natalie, LaGrange, Jimmy and Helen Hardy, Terri Hardy and Sonny Williamson; nephews, Wesley Powell Mosteller and Bo Morgan Mosteller of Jackson and several cousins. Funeral services were held Sunday, Nov. 21, at 2 p.m., in the chapel of Haisten Funeral Home in Jackson. Dr. Joe Bufford officiated. The family received friends at the funeral home Saturday from 5 to 7 p.m., and at other times at the residence of his mother, Linda McClelland, on Otho Morgan Road in the Stark Community.
