Kathleen Cavin, of McDonough, passed away at Dogwood Forest in Stockbridge, on Tuesday, Nov. 23, 2010, at the age of 90. The daughter of the late Myrtice Inez Chance and Leonard Crawford Rooks, she was the oldest of five children, and spent her early years growing up on the family farm in Metter, Ga. She was predeceased by her husband of 56 years, Maxwell M. Cavin, in 1997. Her sense of humor, her eternal optimism, her love of life and her compassion for others made her a loving wife, a wonderful mother, a caring friend and great big sister. After raising her family, Kathleen was employed by Atlanta Newspapers/Cox Communications until retirement. Mrs. Cavin is survived by her three children and their spouses, Maxine and Bob Crouse, of The Villages, Fla., Mike and Joy Cavin, of McDonough, Ga., Bill and Sharon Cavin, of McDonough; seven grandchildren, Joe and Elizabeth Crouse, Eric Crouse, Sean and Amanda Cavin, Chris and Christie Cavin, Katie and Chad Pitts, Leanne and Trey Fletcher, and Aaron Cavin; four great-grandchildren: Lauren Cavin, Spencer Cavin, Beau Pitts, and Lily Cavin; brother and spouse, Bill and June Rooks, of Augusta; sister: Martha Bird, of Metter. Kathleen’s family members express their gratitude and appreciation for the wonderful care and love provided by the staff and extended family of caregivers to “Mama Cavin,” at Dogwood Forest and Sacred Journey Hospice. A private graveside service will be held at Rosemary Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.
