Warren E. Foster, known affectionately as “Dado,” 90, of McDonough, passed away Tuesday, November 23. Mr. Foster was born on May 8, 1920, in Phenix City, Alabama. Preceding Mr. Foster in death are his parents, Mr. and Mrs. J.D. Foster, Sr., brother J.D. Foster, Jr., sister Mrs. Regina Wright, and sister-in-law Mrs. Dorothy Foster. Mr. Foster served honorably in the United States Navy during World War II aboard the lead destroyer U.S.S. Moffett at the rank of Radioman Third Class from August 1942 until October 1945. During his first furlough, Mr. Foster returned stateside to wed his loving and devoted wife of 66 years, Miss Margaret Willis, on February 1, 1944. Following his service, Mr. Foster worked in the printing industry for 33 years, including 28 years at the Atlanta Journal Constitution, before retiring in 1983. Mr. Foster was also a member of the International Typographical Union. In his spare time, Mr. Foster enjoyed riding horses with his family, cheering on his grandchildren in baseball, softball, cheerleading, and football, and fishing with his two sons-in-law. Mr. and Mrs. Foster were members of Kelley’s Chapel United Methodist Church in Decatur for many years before moving to McDonough in 1983 where they joined McDonough First United Methodist Church and were active in the Samaritan Sunday School class. Mr. Foster is survived by a multitude of loving family members and friends including his wife, Mrs. Margaret Foster, daughter and son-in-law Reverend and Mrs. Richard and Connie Broom of Lincolnton, daughter and son-in-law Mr. and Mrs. Terry and Cathy Thomas of McDonough, brother Richard L. Foster of Birmingham, Alabama, brother and sister-in-law Mr. and Mrs. Robert H. and Jane Foster of Clayton, grandson and granddaughter-in-law Mr. and Mrs. Chris and Rebecca Broom and family of Toccoa, grandson and granddaughter-in-law Mr. and Mrs. Casey and Heather Broom and family of Lincolnton, granddaughter and grandson-in-law Mr. and Mrs. Meg and Chad Norrell and family of McDonough, and grandson and granddaughter-in-law Mr. and Mrs. Travis and Courtney Thomas and family of McDonough. Mr. Foster also had eleven great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. The family would also like to include five very special friends among family during this time: Mrs. Carole Potts, Mrs. Charlene Peters, Mrs. Deloris Addison, Mrs. Suzanne Varner, and Mrs. Nina Durand. Your selfless and loving care has been a great blessing to our family. Funeral service for Mr. Foster will be held Sunday, November 27, 2010 – 3:00 PM in the chapel of Haisten Funeral Home in McDonough with Rev. Richard Broom officiating.
