Manhunt for theft suspect ends in arrest

A two-month search for a McDonough man wanted in connection with a host of theft cases, is over.

Senchal Wakene Robinson, 28, who twice eluded police, was captured Tuesday by Henry County Police.

Robinson appeared in Henry County Magistrate Court Wednesday before Judge Donnie Patton, and the theft charges against him were bound over to Superior Court. He is being held without bond in the Henry County Jail, on charges of theft by taking, theft by receiving, financial transaction card fraud, a parole violation and three counts of entering an automobile, according to jail records.

Robinson allegedly stole two computers, four cell phones, a global-positioning system and other items, according to Henry County Police. One of his theft victims was a DeKalb County lawman.

"Due to the combined efforts of Henry County Police, McDonough Police, and the Henry County Sheriff's Office, Robinson was located ... at his sister's residence inside the Sundance Creek Apartments within the City of McDonough," said Henry Police Maj. Jason Bolton. "Once determining that Robinson was inside, and would not come to the door, the scene was secured and detectives obtained a search warrant.

"Before entry was made, Robinson relayed through a friend that he would come out of the apartment on his own," the major continued. "He did so, and was arrested without further incident."

Bolton, during the search for Robinson, said police believe the alleged culprit is connected to a Sept. 18 theft on Royal Street in Henry County.

"[Police] reported a stolen ... Dodge Ram pickup -- along with a stolen 9 mm, Smith & Wesson handgun," Bolton said.

Robinson, the major said, reportedly broke into three more vehicles on Sept. 28, at two locations in the City of McDonough. "In these thefts, the suspect stole [global positioning] systems (GPS) and two turntables, which he later pawned at Forest Park Pawn Shop," Bolton said.

"On Oct. 10, [Henry County Police] responded to an address in Hampton -- where an off-duty DeKalb County Sheriff's Deputy's personal vehicle was entered," Bolton added.

The major said Robinson is suspected of taking body armor, a Heckler & Koch, .40 caliber handgun, a Stinger flashlight, and another GPS unit from the vehicle.

Bolton said the stolen Dodge Ram was located by police Oct. 19, at the Zaxby's on Ga. Highway 20/81 in McDonough. He said another theft, similar to the others allegedly committed by Robinson, occurred Nov. 21, in the area of Country Lake Drive and Ga. Highway 20 East.
