For the fifth year in a row, the Southern Crescent will have a chance to see exactly what the Clayton County business community has to offer, in an upcoming expo.

The Showcase Clayton Business and Community Expo will take place on Thursday, Oct. 14, from 3:30 p.m., to 7:30 p.m., at the Morrow Center, located at 1180 Southlake Circle, Suite 100 in Morrow.

The free event will highlight the products and services of nearly 50 different businesses and restaurants in the greater Clayton area, with demonstrations, samples, games, and door prizes.

According to Clayton County Chamber of Commerce Events and Programs Manager Jessica Kinard, the chamber has hosted the expo for the past five years as a way to bring greater attention to the county's businesses. She said the event will feature a variety of activities for kids, free massages and health screenings, food samples, and other activities for families to enjoy.

"It's for our businesses to have the opportunity to show off their products and show what they are doing here in Clayton County," said Kinard. "It is also a way for the community to come out and become aware of all of the businesses in Clayton County. It helps some of the businesses get their name out there and get recognized."

Businesses featured in this year's Showcase Clayton expo include non-profit companies, health-care providers, banks, country clubs, colleges and universities, nursing facilities, restaurants, printing companies, and caterers.

Among the businesses currently registered are: Atlanta Technical College; Clayton County Public Schools; the Clayton County Sheriff's Office; Clayton State University; Delta Community Credit Union; Eagle's Landing Country Club; Georgia Power; Hometown Directories, Inc.; Jonesboro Nursing & Rehabilitation Center; Southern Heart Specialists; and Southside Seafood Company.

Kinard said the expo will include a "Restaurant Row," featuring free samples, as well as a children's play area with moonwalks, a clown, and face-painting.

Throughout the evening, visitors will also have the chance to win several door prizes, including round-trip airfare to any AirTran Airways destination within the continental United States, she said.

"The community gets a relaxed environment for their children to come enjoy, and businesses have the opportunity for business networking," Kinard said. "In turn, people of Clayton County can learn what they have available in their community that they may not have been aware of.
