Officials from Clayton County Public Schools are, once again, looking for more male volunteers for the schools.
The school system is continuing its "500 Men Standing in the GAP" program, which is designed to encourage fathers, grandfathers, uncles, brothers, and other males in the community, to volunteer in schools, according to the school district's community relations liaison, Rhonda Burnough.
To that end, she said, the district will hold its free, 2010 "500 Men Standing in the GAP" conference, on Oct. 16, from 9 a.m., to noon, at Mundy's Mill High School, which is located at 9652 Fayetteville Road, in Jonesboro.
The breakout sessions planned for the conference, include: "The Making of a Man," "Keeping it Real," "Changing of the Guard," and "Mission Accomplished," Burnough added.
She said adult men, and male students, between the ages of 12 and 18, are invited to attend. For more information, call (770) 473-2760.
