The Henry County Board of Elections and Registration will hold a special called meeting to discuss the fate of a candidate in the Henry County Board of Education District 5 race.
The meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, at 10 a.m. It will be held in the conference room of the Henry County Board of Elections and Registrations, at 345 Phillips Drive, in McDonough, said Janet Shellnutt, Henry County Elections and Registration director.
The meeting will be open to the public, said Shellnutt.
She said the meeting was scheduled after the Board of Elections received a letter from a resident on Thursday, asking that the candidate to be disqualified from the race, due to residency requirements.
The purpose of the meeting, said the elections director, will be to determine whether there is enough evidence to warrant scheduling a hearing on the issue.
Shellnutt said the meeting will include her, the board of elections, and Henry County Attorney LaTonya Wiley.
The name of the candidate, who is the subject of the complaint, is being withheld until it can be determined if the matter will warrant a formal investigation or further action.
