The playoffs are set, and one thing is already for sure, the Eagle's Landing Christian Academy Lady Chargers won't defend their Class A title for the fifth time in a row.
ELCA was eliminated from state competition Friday night when it lost to twice to Hebron Christian in a play-in game.
Had they won the series, ELCA would have faced Gordon-Lee, the team they have beaten in the state finals the last four years in the first round.
That doesn't mean the Southern Crescent won't be well represented when state competition begins this Wednesday with a doubleheader in a collection of best-of-three series. A third and final game for each contest is set for Thursday, if needed.
In Class AAAAA, No. 4-seed Luella (15-10) heads to Harrison (15-9-1). The Lady Lions enter the event on the heels of two straight losses at the Region 2-AAAAA tournament, falling to Newnan and East Coweta.
Luella played some of its best softball in the middle of the season, winning six games in a row in one stretch.
Harrison enters as the No. 3-seed in the Class AAAAA event.
Harrison won its last two games in the Region 4-AAAAA tournment, beating Kennesaw Mountain twice.
In Class AAAA, Mundy's Mill (18-0) goes in as a No. 1 seed after winning the Region 4-AAAA tournament and finishing with an undeated season.
The Lady Tigers take on Wayne County (14-8).
Mundy's Mill started its season by winning the Clayton County tournament. Their season included 10 shutouts.
Union Grove (25-9) earned the No. 3-seed out of Region 3-AAAA and will travel to Northside Warner Robins (20-9). Union Grove has been ranked as high as No.-1 in the state this season, but was fifth in the last gasports.com Class AAAA coaches' poll.
Also representing Class AAAA from the Southern Crescent is Morrow, which earned the No. 2-seed out of Region 4-AAAA and takes on Evans.
No.-3 Lovejoy travels to South Effingham and No. 4-seed North Clayton boards the school bus for a road trip to Greenbrier.
In Class AAA competition, second-year program Locust Grove (10-15) earned the No-3 seed out of Region 4-AAA and plays its best-of-three series at Rutland (17-9).
Strong Rock (16-11), a newcomer to the Georgia High School Association, has enjoyed pleny of success in their first season as a member of Region 9-A. The Lady Patriots are ranked No. 10 in the gasports.com poll and play at Excel Christian (25-4). Excel is ranked No. 3 in the latest poll.
